If you want to take in the scenery in Polk County this winter, here are the locations you don't want to miss.

One of our real estate agents' favorite things to do when winter weather rolls in is to take in the beautiful snowy scenery and snap some photos! There's just something about how snow can transform a place you've seen countless times that begs to be captured on your camera or phone and shared. If your Instagram or Facebook uploads have been lacking lately, here are Polk County spots you should visit this winter for taking pictures and learning about the community.

Crookston Trails

You'll probably do plenty of walking when touring Crookston homes for sale, but if you're looking for a little more exercise, check out the various trails that weave their way through Crookston. You may decide to take in some nature at Red River Valley Natural History Area or see the snow-dusted scenery on the Kreutzberg Trails. It may be chilly, but the quiet, serene views you'll capture are worth the venturing out.

Glacial Ridge National Wildlife Refuge

One of the most scenic places in Polk County, Glacial Ridge has plenty of trails for you to get your steps in and plenty of picturesque views for you to stop and appreciate the landscape. The National Wildlife Refuge is the largest prairie-wetland restoration in the country, so you're sure to spot some of the wintering birds that don't migrate out of the state. It's the perfect place to start dabbling in wildlife photography.

Flood Memorial Marker

Just a short walk across Sorlie Memorial Bridge, the Flood Memorial Marker is a must-see landmark if you're visiting East Grand Forks homes for sale. This statue commemorates the historic flood of 1997 as well as other floods throughout the city's history by marking the height of the Red River when the water rose. Most of the time, the statue stands proud like a lighthouse and makes a great focal point for your photos when snow covers the ground and bridge.

Sand Hill River Recreational Area

After seeing some Fertile homes for sale, take an afternoon to explore the Sand Hill River Recreational Area loop trail. The 2.7 miles, year-round trail crosses over Sand Hill River and is dog friendly, so you can enjoy the winter scenery with your furry family members.

Settlers Square Historical Museum

Not far from Warren homes for sale, you'll find the Settlers Square Historical Museum. Take a step back through time with the museum's 11 storefronts surrounding a courtyard. They represent what a small village would have been like in the late 1800s, and it's the perfect place to snap some interesting pictures. There's also a period-accurate church, school building, railroad depot, and log cabins. The village is the perfect place to unwind and experience the simpler times of the 19th century.
