Crookston Ox Cart Days Is the Summer Event Everyone Looks Forward To

Crookston Ox Cart Days is the iconic summer festival in Crookston, MN. A tradition that has been a big part of the calendar for years, it draws visitors from all over the state. Held in the third week of August, it's considered Minnesota's biggest summer festival in a small town.

While many visitors will book a local hotel to make the most of Ox Cart Days, locals have the opportunity to drop in any time. Admission is just $5 for the entire event, and you can receive an admissions button early by paying in June or July. They are also available during the festivities. Kids aged five and under visit free!

Crookston Ox Cart Days have traditionally been held in downtown Crookston when weather is mild and at the Crookston Sports Center during rain. You'll find Crookston Sports Center at 801 Fisher Avenue, Crookston, MN 56716. See the official website for all the downtown festival locations.

It's not necessary to go to Ox Cart Days every day to enjoy what it has to offer, but you might decide you want to! Each day brings exciting new games, contests, rides, and other festival fare. Crookston Ox Cart Days Schedule of Events in Brief

Here's what you can expect from this year's week-long Ox Cart Days celebration:

  • Monday, August 12
    Activities will kick off at 9 a.m. on the first day with highlights including the kids' lemonade stand contest and "Aristocats: Everybody Wants to Be a Cat" workshop and performances for children in grades 3 through 9.
  • Tuesday, August 13
    On Tuesday, events will begin at 11:30 a.m. with the Ox Cart Days Cookout Fundraiser. There will also be a 3-on-3 basketball tournament, "Supermarket Sweep" contest, Road Rally, and "Oldie Wed" hosted game show.
  • Wednesday, August 14
    Wednesday is another exciting day that will bring the Ice Cream Social at the University of Minnesota-Crookston as well as the Jigsaw Puzzle Contest, Medallion Hunt, Golf Ball Drop, Youth Dodgeball, and a trivia contest.
  • Thursday, August 15
    Thursday is anchored by the Food Truck Fest at Downtown Square, which will be running from 11 a.m. through to 11 p.m.'s end of the day. Bounce houses, the Kids' Tractor Pull, and many more will happen through the day.
  • Friday, August 16
    The Pancake Breakfast at the Crookston Fire Department of Main Street inaugurates a new day between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m., followed by the continuation of Food Truck Fest, more bounce houses, face painting, and the rest.
  • Saturday, August 17
    Families with little ones can drop by Ash Street starting at 7:30 a.m. to participate in the 5K and Little Tykes Run. A farmer's market, Classic Car Show, and the Kiddie Parade are just a few of the iconic events on Saturday.
  • Sunday, August 18
    The last day of this year's Ox Cart Days begins with the Pickleball Tournament at 9 a.m. followed by Grocery Bingo, Video Games on the Big Screen, and finally, wood-fired pizza and a concert ending at 7:00 o'clock.
